Itinerant Printer Meet & GreetCome join us as we host an Open Studio//Meet & Greet//Pop-Up Shop with The Itinerant Printer (Chris Fritton) Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6:00-8:00pm. He'll be showing off experimental prints from his cross-country letterpress adventure, as well as inviting participants to print pieces in a hands-on demonstration.
Fritton has been on tour visiting letterpress print shops across the country since January 2015, and to date he's logged more than 30,000 miles and over 15,000 prints. When he visits he primarily produces unique prints at each venue culled from their idiosyncratic collections of antique wood type, metal type, cuts, ornaments, and photopolymer plates. These prints are mailed back to followers and supporters of the project as postcards (and care packages) from the road. The project intends to capture the spirit of the analog revival, send real samples of it to people’s mailboxes, and convey the ethos of
the handmade revival to a broader audience via social media. But it’s not just another travel blog - as a culmination, it will result in a coffee table book that features photos of all of the prints, printshops, and people from the trek.
Come hear the stories, see what he's been working on while in the Midwest, and pick up a print or poster from the journey to take home!
This event is completely FREE and open to the public!
